The Senior Tax Accountant plays a critical role as subject matter expert for the company’s tax compliance for multiple legal entities.

Position Information: This is a regular, full-time position, reporting to the Accounting Director.

 

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $77,050 and $94,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

 

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.

Envision Your Experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Administer third-party software Avalara, to ensure sales/use tax compliance, business registrations and timely filings in all required jurisdictions for multiple legal entities. 
  • Prepare all information needed for tax service to complete income tax provisions, filings and estimated payments for multiple legal entities. This includes state and local apportionment workpapers. 
  • Prepare all other taxes, such as personal property tax returns and unclaimed property liabilities. 
  • Ensure all business registration and tax license requirements for state and local jurisdictions are maintained. 
  • Continue proactive review of nexus exposure for multiple legal entities based on new activities, considering state and local regulations, to ensure ongoing compliance. 
  • Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries and reconcile related tax accounts in the general ledger. 
  • Research and prepare recommendations on tax compliance issues.  
  • Respond to all tax notices in a timely manner and support tax-related audits. 
  • Support ongoing integration and synergies for newly acquired entities, including full integration of tax and accounting operations. 
  • Other duties as required.  

 

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 5 years of relevant experience in a mid-size growing organization; or an acceptable combination of education and experience. 
  • CPA license is preferred. 
  • Advanced knowledge of multi-state sales/use tax return preparation, compliance, and research preferred.  
  • Knowledge of GAAP and experience reconciling general ledger accounts. 
  • NetSuite and Avalara experience a plus. 
  • Highly motivated to research complex sales/use tax and related tax issues and effectively communicate findings both verbally and in writing to management. 
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, detail-oriented, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate through collaboration with others and to focus on achieving business goals.
